Spider mite - The headache of the owners of gardens and kitchen gardens and a real threat to their pets. The presence of small insect-feeding insect plants that settle in huge colonies on vegetable and flower crops often causes a decrease in yield. A large number of parasites can even lead to the death of plants. Attacks of parasites can be affected not only garden-vegetable crops, but also indoor flowers. Many chemical preparations have been created for their destruction, but immunity has been developed for many of them. How to deal with a spider mite, and what means is better to take, depends on the culture itself and the degree of infection.
A little about the pest
It is quite difficult to remove a spider mite. After all, it is not always possible to notice a small insect, small in size from 0.2 to 1 mm, brown or greenish-gray, with the naked eye, not to mention its eggs. But the size of the damage caused by the pest is quite impressive, since the spider mite feeds on the plant cell sap. An enzyme secreted from the salivary gland destroys chloroplasts of plant cells. Why do the leaves begin to turn yellow, dry and eventually fall off. As a result, plants lag behind in growth, and sometimes even die.
Most often, pests and deciduous trees are susceptible to pest attacks: ticks settle on cherries, apple treeplum. Often they live on conifers. Massive attacks by plant parasites can also suffer cucumbers, seedlings, gourds, cotton, ornamental plants in greenhouses and open ground. The favorite target of the pest is roses. Of indoor plants, the spider mite yucca and orchid are very fond of, it is also found on ficus, cactus and lemon (decorative).
However, before looking for methods to combat the plant parasite, it is necessary to know what conditions favor its spread, and also at what temperature the spider mite dies. Arthropods choose dry and warm places as their place of residence (the most comfortable for them is the air temperature above +27 degrees). With increasing humidity, they experience depression, so that indoor flowers do not become a treat for the pest, they must be sprayed regularly.
On a note!
During its short life, and the red spider mite lives for about 45 days, the female lays more than one hundred eggs. Of which, after a maximum of 5 days, young individuals are born. This fact should be taken into account when confining it to the period of baiting pests.
How to get rid of a Putin tick
The fight against spider mites involves the use of chemicals and folk remedies. However, before applying them, it is necessary to carry out preparatory measures.
- After examining carefully infected with a spider mite plants. it is necessary to remove yellowed leaves, shoots and flowers from them.
- Water procedures are the next stage of pest control.It is necessary to wipe all the leaves with soapy water or use a shower, washing off the parasites with a stream of water.
- After drying, the leaves of the plant are treated with a chemical or folk remedy, the infected topsoil is replaced with a new one. The pot pan is treated with boiling water, and the flower is covered with a plastic bag for at least 2-3 hours.
- The window sill, glass and window frame must also be thoroughly treated.
Important!
Such control measures should be carried out in relation to all plants in the house and even to those on which symptoms of infection are not detected. After all, the partial destruction of pests will not give a full result.
From a spider mite wintering in the greenhouse, get rid by fumigation, metal structures are burned with a blowtorch.
Spider Mite Chemicals
When choosing a remedy for a spider mite, one must not forget that the pest is not an insect, as many people think, but animals of the arachnid class. Therefore insecticides such as Aktara, in the fight against plant parasite will be ineffective. Only spider mites can kill acaricidal drugs and insecticaricides.
Fitoverm
Effective against various types of ticks and harmful insects, insectoacaricide, created on the basis of aversectin. The drug enters the body of pests by the contact-intestinal method, exerting a negative effect on the nervous system of plant parasites. Which subsequently leads them to paralysis and death. Produced Fitoverm in ampoules of various volumes and vials, from which the cost of the product varies (the price of an ampoule is 2 ml within 15 rubles).
How to use:
- To prepare the working solution, the contents of the ampoule (2 ml) must be mixed with water (1 l).
- The resulting composition is used for spraying plants indoors and outdoors.
The death of spider mites occurs within 6-8 hours from the time of treatment. The residual effect of the drug lasts up to 3 weeks.
Actellic
It is a universal organophosphorus insect acaricide, in which pyrimifos-methyl (a highly effective organophosphorus pesticide) acts as an active substance. The toxic composition penetrates into the body of spider mites by contact (upon contact) or the intestinal method (together with absorbed plant sap). What causes the failure of various vital organs of plant parasites.
The disadvantages of the tool include the development of acquired group resistance to the composition, which is developed during systematic use. The working solution is prepared at the rate of 2 ml of poison per 2 liters of water, which is enough to process a plot of 10 square meters. m. The protective effect of the composition lasts up to 12 days from the date of processing. An ampoule of 2 ml costs about 35 rubles.
Feedback
A very effective tool against spider mites! There is no need to invent anything and spend time processing various folk compositions: using the same washing or tooth powder to prepare a solution that only a part of the parasites is washed off, and new offspring grow from the remaining eggs. Actellik is a completely different matter - two treatments, and the parasites are finished. Recommend.

Karbofos
Another insecticide and acaricide used to combat spider mites, moths, bedbugs, weevils on garden and berry and vegetable crops. Malathion acts as an active component, the amount of which is 50% of the total volume. Due to its high concentration of toxin, the chemical has a rapid effect on garden pests.
On a note!
However, the destruction of the spider mite occurs only when the spray liquid directly hits the parasite.
Karbofos spraying in the garden is carried out in sunny, calm weather and preferably in the morning or evening hours. The dosage is determined using the instructions, taking into account the processing area, the type of plant and the degree of damage:
- for berry bushes, the solution is prepared at the rate of 75 g of poison per bucket of water;
- for flower and ornamental shrubs, 60 g of the product per 8 l of water, the same proportions are used to combat spider mites on trees (cherries, cherries, plums);
- for the treatment of peaches, apricots and nectarines, 10 l of solution is needed;
- citrus is processed at the rate of 5 liters per tree, and the last treatment should be carried out no later than 50 days before harvesting.
The period of the protective effect of Karbofos is 10-15 days, the speed of exposure to the drug is 3-4 hours. The price of a bottle of 30 g in the region of 30-40 rubles.

Recipes from the people
Despite the effectiveness of chemicals, many gardeners and summer residents prefer to use folk remedies for spider mites, the main advantages of which are safety and accessibility.
Decoctions and infusions
Herbal decoctions and infusions are widely used in pest control.
- Garlic (2 heads) is finely chopped, poured with water (1l), insisted for 5 days in a dark place. The resulting infusion is filtered, the same amount of water is added and used to spray infected plants.
- It is good to remove parasites with mustard, whose smell does not like the spider mite. 60 g of dry powder is diluted in 1 liter of water, insisted for 3 days.
- Onion peel (100 g) is poured with water (5 l), infused for 5 days. After that, the infusion is filtered and used to treat tick-affected plants.
- Dry or fresh alder leaves (200 g) are poured into 2 liters of water, simmer for 30 minutes. After which the broth is infused for 12 hours, filtered and used for spraying.

Soap
An effective effect in the fight against spider mites gives a soap solution (20 g of soap in 1 liter of water). It is better to use a normal laundry soap or green soap to prepare the solution. It is necessary to wash the leaves on both sides with a cloth moistened with soapy water, preventing the composition from getting on the roots of the plant.
For spraying flowers and garden plants, you can use sulfur-tar soap (100 g of soap in 10 liters of water). The procedure is carried out 2-3 times a week.
Feedback
I think that the poison for the processing of garden crops is not the best option. I use periodically soap and garlic solution. In the early stages of plant infection, nothing better is needed.

Hydrogen peroxide and potassium permanganate
To combat the spider mite at home, use a solution of hydrogen peroxide, which is prepared at the rate of 2 tbsp. l (3%) funds per 1 liter of water. Spraying is carried out 1 time per week for a month, which allows over time to destroy the entire harmful family. For soil treatment use a weak solution of potassium permanganate.
Ammonia
Ammonia has similar properties. The solution is prepared in a ratio of 1 tbsp. l on 10 l of water. The resulting composition is treated on both sides of the leaves, which will not only remove ticks, but also saturate the plant with nitrogen.
Feedback
