Photo, symptoms and treatment of an eye tick

The eyes are an important human organ requiring proper care. Any problems associated with them cause a person trouble. There are many eye diseases, one of them is demodex. The reason is eye mites in humans. According to some sources, carriers of this microscopic arthropod are 60-90% of the world's population.

Short and important about the eye tick

Eye or as it is often called ciliary mite, can live in the sebaceous and sweat glands for years without causing discomfort to its owner. It is not visible to the naked eye, since its dimensions are only 0.1-02 mm. If you carefully look at the photo of the eye tick, you can see that its shape is elongated, there are 4 pairs of claws with claws near the head.

If you compare it with subcutaneous tick, it is more aggressive, it is more difficult to treat a demadecotic tick in the eyes. It settles in the sebaceous glands of the eyelids, eyebrows, nasolabial folds, forehead, neck. Hazardous to humans are tick products. To a healthy person with a stable immune system, the parasite does not cause problems. But as soon as the immune system weakens or the hormonal background fails, acne may occur on the cilia, the causative agent of which is the demodex eye tick.

On a note!

Scientists believe that the eye tick is “younger”. Studies have shown that if a woman refuses to be treated during pregnancy, the baby can become infected through the placenta with demodicosis.

Once demodex enters the skin, it immediately penetrates the sebaceous glands, where favorable conditions are created for it and feels comfortable. Here it is actively developing, releasing toxins into the human blood that cause allergic reactions. People have a runny nose, inflammation of the eyes, acne on the face. The female is able to lay about 25 eggs. Hatched ticks find a suitable habitat for themselves, starting their new development cycle. Often, inflammatory processes on the eyelashes and eyelids are accompanied by allergic manifestations in other parts of the body. The diagnosis of the disease can only be made by an ophthalmologist, carefully examining the eyes under a microscope.

Causes of infection

Having understood what an eye tick is, you need to know how can you get infected with demodicosisWhat are the symptoms of the disease and effective treatments. In almost every person, the parasite lives on the thickness of the skin. Its presence does not mean that the disease will begin to develop. It does not actively begin to progress in everyone and may not be reminded of its existence throughout a person’s life, so treatment will not be needed. The causes of the disease can be:

  • different forms of hepatitis;
  • gastrointestinal diseases;
  • impaired metabolism;
  • past stresses, strong emotional experiences;
  • vision problems;
  • adverse weather conditions for the human body;
  • pregnancy;
  • abdominal operations, as a result of which immunity is reduced;
  • prolonged use of hormonal drugs.

On a note!

A tick in the eyes is an obligate parasite that cannot develop outside the human cell. Bulb cavities become his habitat, where he develops. If the conditions are comfortable for him, the person does not have the disease.

Unfavorable working conditions at work can also provoke the disease: excessively warm and dry air at the enterprise. The same applies to the apartment, the house. Frequent hot water procedures are also able to provoke the development of the disease.

Causes of Demodecosis
Causes of Demodecosis

The birds are spread by ticks; they can be found in feather-beds and pillows, for which feathers and fluff serve. Even a kiss, a common towel can cause infection.

Symptoms of the disease

Demodecosis manifests itself in various clinical forms. Symptoms are very diverse and depend on the severity of the disease. The most typical symptoms of an ocular tick are observed in the form of such manifestations:

  • redness of the eyelids at the base of the eyelashes, their swelling;
  • eyes get tired quickly, are sensitive to bright light, eyesight worsens;
  • after sleep, cilia stick together;
  • itching in the eye area;
  • scaly crusts appear on the roots of eyelashes;
  • the mucous membrane of the eyes is irritated, suppuration is present;
  • allergic rhinitis;
  • a rash appears on the face and neck.

On a note!

Excessive loss of eyelashes (up to 10 pcs.) May also indicate eye disease. If you look closely at the eyebrows and eyelashes, you will notice a light cobweb, which is actually a sticky substance.

Diagnostics

To prevent complications of the disease, before starting treatment, you must pass demodecosis test. This can be done in public medical institutions or private clinics. To determine the presence of ticks in the hair follicles and sebaceous glands, it is possible only by conducting micro studies with a microscope. Such manipulations are carried out:

  • biopsy (superficial and skin);
  • scraping is taken from the surface of the skin;
  • eyebrow and eyelash hairs are removed;
  • fluid is squeezed out of the sebaceous glands.

On a note!

If more than two parasites are found during the study, the diagnosis of the disease is confirmed.

To get rid of demodicosis, the doctor will prescribe a comprehensive treatment for the eye tick. It includes taking medication, dieting, massage, physiotherapy, use of folk remedies. It is recommended to include proteins, foods containing healthy fats and fiber in your diet. Limit spicy foods and sugary foods.
