How to get rid of carpet fleas in a house with a vacuum cleaner:
- Before cleaning, you need to clean the contents of the bag or garbage container, rinse the filter.
- Turn on at full capacity, well vacuum all surfaces in the house, paying particular attention to carpets, corners and places under furniture.
- Put on a special narrow nozzle and walk under the sofa.
- Vacuum all upholstered furniture and toys in the house.
- Cleaning should be carried out at least twice a day, for two weeks.
If it was not possible to remove carpet fleas from the house with a vacuum cleaner, then it is necessary to apply alternative methods or cardinal, using chemistry.
Folk remedies against fleas

Wormwood and tansy - worse than fire for carpet fleas
Sagebrush It has long been used as a means against fleas, it has such a pungent smell that almost all parasites are in a hurry to leave the house faster. As an auxiliary component, tansy is used. Previously, it was customary to lay out fresh herbs on the floor, but now in urban conditions it is difficult to get them, so you need to purchase dry grass in a pharmacy and prepare a special decoction:
- take a can, pour out two tablespoons of wormwood, one tablespoon of tansy, add several sheets of eucalyptus to slightly soften the smell of wormwood;
- pour a glass of boiling water;
- close the lid, let it brew for 12 hours.
Pour the ready-made broth into the sprayer and treat the room, paying particular attention to carpets, corners and baseboards. In order for the solution to act instantly, you can pour it into a steam cleaner.
Cold, steam and sun
Fleas do not tolerate cold, so if for some reason they wound up in winter (after visiting the cellar they can be brought up on their feet or clothes), it is necessary to open the window wide open if the temperature is below freezing and ventilate the house. A few hours is enough for all fleas to die.

It is recommended to use a flea steam cleaner - this is a fairly effective way against parasites. It is necessary to draw water into it, then treat all surfaces with a steam jet. If there is no steam cleaner, you can rent it, or even better just buy it, because it is an irreplaceable thing in the apartment that will help process carpets and remove fleas from them.
Baking soda
A good tool for cleaning carpets is baking soda. To do this, mix a pack of soda with a small amount of salt. It is good to process soft surfaces, carpets, and after twelve hours to vacuum.
Coniferous shavings and herbs
Faced at least once with carpeted fleas, hardly anyone wants their second visit. Therefore, as a preventive measure, you can collect wormwood in the summer, shavings from conifers, put it in a beautiful bag and put it near the threshold. Such a charm will protect households from blood-sucking insects.
Chemicals against insects
When, having tried all popular methods, the struggle with fleas for the house continues, it is time to move on to more serious measures. Folk remedies will not help if there are a lot of carpets, upholstered furniture, toys in the room, in this case it will not work without insecticidal preparations. You can handle a flea palace with a spray: Raptor, Dichlorvos, Raid etc. But the treatment is carried out repeatedly, because aerosols are not able to kill eggs.
The most effective is a concentrated household emulsion based on fenthion, chlorpyrifos, malathion, which is part of the preparations:
- Dobrohim FOS;
- Karbofos;
- Medilis-MALATION.
Only karbofos has a pungent and unpleasant smell. To get rid of insects at home, you need to rub the product into the carpet or spray with a spray bottle.

Before processing the premises, it is necessary to wear a protective mask and gloves and ensure the absence of people, cats, dogs. After treatment, do not immediately clean up the apartment and wait at least 24 hours so that the product works well and the insects die.
The day after the disinfestation, you need to vacuum the carpet well to remove dead parasites and take it to dry cleaning. Carpets can be cleaned independently, but it will take a lot of effort and time:
- for cleaning, you need to prepare a concentrated soap solution by adding 40 g of washing soda to one liter of water;
- put on the carpet, rubbing well;
- after complete drying, vacuum.
When all available methods of removing insects have been tried, but they still remain, you need to call pest control specialists and produce pest control. They treat the room and carpets with chemical solutions.
Carpet fleas prevent people from living, bite with arms and legs with particular fury as soon as a person enters the room, and it is not clear who the owner of the apartment is, man or fleas.
